I'm back from Barbados. There is snow on the ground. I have to wear winter jackets and scarves and boots. I can't even begin to vocalize how much I do not want to be in this miserable country. Everything is cold. My skin is rebelling. I want to be warm. I want to hear that annoying rooster in the backyard. I want to hold on for dear life while looking cool and collected in a mini-van. I want to steal someone's mango. I want to wake up and hear the wind blowing through the palm trees.
I want to be back with my family. I want to be back with the friends of my family.
Despite going for a funeral, which hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, I did manage to have some fun. It's been ten years since I've last been back to Barbados, but it's nice to know that somethings are still the same. I'm really happy with the amount of writing I got done, especially in one of the projects I've been in a block with for the past few months. I'm taking the rest of the semester to center myself and I'll be going back next year to finish off my degree. I don't know yet if I'm going to go back for Fall 2014 or Winter 2015, but I'm focusing on getting myself back to myself before anything else.
By the way, none of these pictures (except for the last two Instagram ones) have been edited.
