I'm not really sure how Rianna and I crossed paths. Maybe it was Tumblr...but anyways something got us talking. Up until the early hours of the morning for both of us, chatting away on FaceTime like there wasn't the Atlantic Ocean between us. Rianna, someone who I'm not only proud, but also honoured to call a friend, is simply amazing. Here she's speaking with Cecile Emeke about respectability politics, transcendence of pain through the generations, and polyamy (to name a few). If you haven't heard of Cecile Emeke (what's up with your life b!?) please check out "fake deep" after this.
Actually, I have trouble writing about Rianna to be honest. Rianna is a curator. Rianna is well-read. Rianna is "of Jamaican descent" living in England. But then there's also Rianna who put me back together on a bus ride home while I let go and cried some.
Anyways, please check out Rianna's Tumblr and The Lonely Londoners (her collective in collaboration with Kareem and Pelin). Let me stop before I start wailing over how much I miss them.
